Harris County MUD No. 173 Board of Directors
Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 173 is an elected, volunteer public office on a five-member board that governs a political subdivision of the State of Texas responsible for providing water, wastewater, and drainage services to residents in the Cypress/Bear Creek area of Houston. The Board is responsible for conducting all the business of the district, including services or functions contracted to other parties, and must comply with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Texas Public Information Act, and undergo an annual independent audit. Directors are responsible for defining the district's objectives, setting policy, and providing management oversight. This includes approving budgets, setting tax rates and service fees, authorizing contracts, and overseeing bond issuance for capital improvements. Directors serve four-year staggered terms.
