Occupation
Teacher
I bring experience as a classroom educator, CCISD alumni, and leadership professional with over 15 years of experience in training and development. My background includes curriculum planning, data-driven instruction, and working directly with students and families.
Professionally, I have led training programs, mentored staff, and helped organizations improve performance through collaboration and accountability. As an education columnist, I regularly analyze education policy and communicate complex issues to the public.
Most importantly, I bring practical classroom perspective, strong communication skills, and a commitment to transparency, student success, and community trust.
One major issue is teacher recruitment and retention. Supporting teachers improves student outcomes. I support reviewing workload concerns, strengthening professional support, and ensuring policies reflect classroom realities.
Another issue is strengthening communication and trust with parents and the community. I believe in clear communication about district decisions, expanding opportunities for parent engagement, and ensuring transparency in financial and academic decisions.
Strong schools require collaboration between educators, families, and leadership, and I will work to help strengthen those partnerships.

Occupation
Director, Office of External Relations, NASA Johnson Space Center
I bring 26 years of leadership experience as Director of the External Relations Office at NASA JSC, overseeing 100 professionals in public relations, STEM education, and legislative affairs. My professional experience shapes my approach to governance; strategic,
data-driven, and accountable to outcomes. During my nine years as trustee, including six in leadership roles, I have developed expertise in budget oversight, policy development, and community engagement. I’ve served on the Finance, Safety and Security, and Strategic
Planning committees and maintained PTA membership across many campuses, including CCISD’s Special Education PTA. My wife and I have raised two children in CCISD, a personal investment that shapes every decision I make.
Declining enrollment, along with an inadequate state funding formula, means real revenue lost. My plans: challenge budget assumptions through program reviews and new demographic forecasts; continue to grow and expand open enrollment and CTE programming; and
collaborate with neighboring districts to advocate for proper state funding. Research shows that teachers have the greatest impact on student outcomes. I’ve championed competitive compensation, including the Teacher Incentive Allotment and National Board Certification pathways, both of which increase pay and reward excellence. My strategy: expand participation
in these programs, invest in professional development, and maintain a culture where teachers feel supported and valued.
