1. Getting more people involved in their communities.
Getting people active in local governance is one of my main goals. Many people who live here feel like they're not part of the process. I support making election information easier to find, reaching out to communities that aren't well represented, and updating communication so that residents know how to vote, go to meetings, and participate in decision-making. Participation is important for a successful democracy. My passion is to get the people engaged in their community.
2. Government that is open and responsible
I think that a government that is open and honest generates trust with the people. Residents should have easy access to public records, fair elections, and equitable treatment during public meetings. I value open communication, treating all speakers equally, and ensuring that everyone can access and understand the material, not just those who already know it. The City Clerk's office should help people get involved in their communities, not stop them from doing so.
3. Fair access, freedom, and equality
I believe in equal treatment under the law and the safeguarding of people's rights. Everyone who lives here, no matter their race, gender, financial level, or history, should have equal access to government services and the opportunity to take part in civic life without fear or barriers. My campaign advocates for policies that prioritize inclusivity and ensure the recognition and appreciation of everyone's voice.
I am running for Covina City Clerk to provide experienced, transparent, and accountable leadership in service to our community.
With more than 30 years of professional experience in public service and city planning, my career has been dedicated to protecting the public interest, strengthening government processes, and helping residents understand how local decisions impact their daily lives. I believe transparency, accuracy, and clear communication are essential to maintaining public trust in local government.
In 2018, I founded Covina Buzz The Original, a community Facebook group created to keep residents informed and engaged in city matters. Encouraging civic participation and access to information has always been central to my work.
The City Clerk plays a critical role in maintaining official records, ensuring open and properly conducted meetings, and safeguarding the integrity of the democratic process. I am committed to bringing leadership beyond roll call by promoting accessibility, professionalism, and independence.
I have a bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona. I'm a retired City Planner from the City of Los Angeles, and I'm currently a Land Use Consultant with two major land use companies.
I am a public servant—not a politician—I'm dedicated to integrity, accountability, and community engagement.
