I was raised in SBISD and became a public school teacher because of the great education I received there. We returned to SBISD to raise our children in the district. I was in many different leadership positions because of my background in teaching. After Covid, I saw how adversarial parents and educators were. I ran in 2023 to try and get everyone back on the same team, working towards one goal- serving the children of our district.
Our two most pressing issues in SBISD are our lack of funding from the state and our declining enrollment. I plan to continue our advocating on behalf of public education with our state elected leaders. As for our declining enrollment, I plan on a campaign within our area to recruit back children that may be in private school. We will show them how strong our schools are and all the opportunities that public education can offer students.
