1) Improve Literacy Literacy—reading, writing, and speaking—is the foundation for success in school and life. I will ensure the County Office of Education is staffed with strong experts and well-trained professionals who support districts with high-quality instruction based on proven methods, including phonics, writing, and meaningful discussion. We will stay current on research and share best practices across districts so students get help early, build confidence, and succeed.

2) Lead with Students at the Center of Budgeting Every dollar should support student success. I will promote clear and transparent budgets that prioritize classrooms, student services, mental health supports, and safe learning environments. The County Office of Education will support districts through fiscal guidance, oversight, and planning so resources are used in ways that directly benefit students.

3) Prioritize Educator Growth, STEM Innovation & Excellence Great schools depend on great educators. I will ensure the County Office of Education hires experts and builds strong, accredited teacher and educator programs so more people can earn their credentials and enter the profession. We will also support educators with high-quality training, including in STEM and innovation, and provide leadership development across districts. By investing in educators, we strengthen instruction and expand opportunities for all students.
I bring over 25 years of experience in public education—as a teacher, principal, county leader, and school board president. I have worked at every level of the system, giving me a clear understanding of what students, educators, and families need to succeed.

My commitment to improving literacy is deeply personal. I struggled to read in elementary school and know what it feels like to fall behind. That experience drives my focus on ensuring every child learns to read, write, and speak with confidence—and that teachers and staff have the skills, training, and support to make that possible.

As a principal, I led schools that improved student outcomes. As a county leader, I launched the first equity department at a County Office of Education in the state and secured multi-million-dollar grants to improve outcomes for African American, Indigenous, special education, and multilingual learners. As a board member, I championed equity audits to address the root causes of student learning challenges and drive meaningful change.

Today, as a school board president, I help oversee budgets, set policy, and ensure decisions are centered on students.

I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, along with master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Special Education, and a bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University.

I offer experience people can trust—and a deep belief that public education is worth fighting for.
