Yes. I believe voter information efforts, such as forums, debates, and face‑to‑face conversations are essential for a healthy local democracy. I would strongly encourage local candidates to participate in these opportunities because they help voters make informed decisions and strengthen trust in the process.
I believe that a candidate’s qualifications for the position should be the top priority when vetting individuals for local office. After that, local experience is extremely important, because candidates need to understand the community they hope to serve. Skills come next, as they help determine how effectively someone can carry out their responsibilities. Adherence to a national party is the least important of these factors; local offices should be grounded first in the needs and values of the local community.
