Office Sought
Kootenai Co. Assessor
I am running because the Assessor’s Office must be led with accuracy, consistency, accountability, and respect for the impact its work has on taxpayers and other county offices. When deadlines are missed or processes break down, it affects more than assessments. It affects taxing districts, the Treasurer’s Office, and public trust. I was encouraged to run by people who care deeply about this office and the people it serves. I want to bring experienced leadership, steady follow-through, and a commitment to fair and timely assessments.
I was born and raised in Kootenai County and have more than 30 years of local property valuation experience. As a Certified Residential Appraiser, former Chief Deputy Assessor, and longtime Realtor, I have worked both inside the Assessor’s Office and out in the field valuing property and following the local market. I understand the office’s deadlines, processes, and responsibilities, as well as the importance of fairness, consistency, and public service. My experience has prepared me to lead this office with knowledge, accountability, and follow-through
Equality in assessments depends on consistency. The process should not change based on location or on who is assigned the property. Similar properties should be reviewed under the same standards, using the same valuation principles and office procedures. That takes training, communication, and leadership that gives staff the support they need to do the work well. I would focus on strengthening those processes so taxpayers can have confidence that assessments are fair, consistent, and well supported.
Kootenai County is home. I was raised here, built my career here, raised my family here, and have spent more than 30 years working in property valuation here. As a mom of four boys, a longtime appraiser, former Chief Deputy Assessor, and Realtor, I have seen this county from many angles and through many seasons of growth. I understand the people, the market, and the responsibility of this office. I care deeply about this community and want to serve it with fairness, consistency, and common sense.

Assessor
Commissioners unanimously appointed me for my qualifications, relevant work experience, education and nearly two decades of county administration.
As a certified tax appraiser, I know the technical side of property valuation and have administered as Assessor for six years. I have a demonstrated record of leading a large team to deliver excellence in public service.
I've led the through COVID, through transition and out of high retirements and computer instability. I discovered work processes do not meet the high standard that the people of Kootenai County deserve.
My goal is to complete computer system modernization, improve efficiency and deliver low, fair, accurate and transparent assessments.
My experience includes 26 years as a real estate agent and 26 years in county administration. My experience includes property costing, valuation and ad valorem appraisal. My experience in public procurement and contracting. particularly in public works and construction projects directly relates to grading and valuing property.
My experience and training has prepared me in the technical side of property valuation and have administered as Assessor for six years.
Appraisal borrows all principles and concepts from Economics so with a Bachelor Science degree in Economics, I am prepared and knowledgeable in the science of establishing market values.
I have a demonstrated record of leading a large team to deliver excellence in public service.
Need for processes improvement and natural human resistance to change erupted in publicized disagreement and controversy.
The computer system in Kootenai County was customized in 2004, which caused system failure and incompatibility with the rest of the state. The County lost vendor support and the computer system fell 24 versions behind. Staff developed inefficient, manual, labor-intensive processes that work but are prone to human fatigue, error and inaccuracy. Staff were loyal to manual work processes out of fear to avoid system failure.
The need for transparency to gain support for change caused friction; but the change was necessary.
The change is well underway, but not complete. My goal is to complete the fixes to ensure equality.
The County loses all remaining IT institutional knowledge this summer by retirement. I initiated project Sympatico to fix the broken computer system. It is partially done, at a critical juncture, and it must be completed with continuity.
Kootenai County is growing rapidly and needs a fixed and modernized computer system.
Changes and fixes are well under way, but nowhere complete.
My goal is to complete the partially finished modernization, improve efficiency and deliver low, fair, accurate and transparent assessments.
