1. Strengthening academics and student opportunity
My first priority is ensuring every student in Nevada County, a rural community, has access to the same high-quality opportunities as students in more urban areas. As someone who grew up in rural public schools, I understand both the strengths and challenges our students face, and I am deeply committed to making sure they are fully prepared for college, careers, and life. This starts with strong reading, writing, math, and communication skills, along with meaningful career pathways that connect learning to real-world opportunities.
The County Office should support districts through targeted academic assistance, including LCAP guidance, curriculum and instructional support, and using data to identify areas for growth. My high school experience gives me a clear view of how K–8 systems feed into outcomes, both the strengths students bring and where better alignment can improve success across all grade levels.
2. Accountable leadership and strong program oversight
I will provide transparent leadership with responsible oversight of district budgets and county programs to ensure public funds are used effectively and focused on students.
A key priority is strengthening the County’s Community Day School so it has clear direction, strong supports, and meaningful outcomes for students. I will also ensure strong oversight of county special education programs, focusing on financial sustainability, compliance, and continuous improvement to maintain high-quality services.
3. Serving as a strong ambassador for public education
I will be a visible, trusted leader who builds partnerships and advocates for students and schools. Through my work in education and the community, I’ve built strong relationships with administrators and local leaders. As Superintendent, I will continue to listen, collaborate, and communicate clearly, promoting the value of public education while bringing people together to support students and schools.
I bring the experience, leadership, and results needed to serve effectively as Nevada County Superintendent of Schools. My career has been built on working directly with students, supporting educators, and leading complex systems that improve outcomes. I understand the challenges our schools face because I’ve worked at every level of the system, and I bring a practical, solutions-oriented approach focused on what is best for students, families, and our community.
I currently serve as Director of Pupil Services, overseeing special education, mental health, and student services, including yearly management of over $8 million in funding. In this role, I ensure compliance, lead complex systems, and make decisions that directly impact students, staff, and families every day.
My background spans the full spectrum of educational leadership, from classroom teaching to site administration to district-level leadership. I have led programs in curriculum and instruction, Career Technical Education, Title I, student services, and school operations. This breadth of experience matters because it means I understand how decisions at every level affect student outcomes.
I also serve as Board Chair of the Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning, have held numerous leadership roles on local boards and advisory committees, and was appointed by the Governor to the 17th District Agricultural Association Board. These roles reflect my ability to lead organizations and represent our community.
My work has been recognized at both the county and regional level, including ACSA Administrator of the Year and Outstanding Young Teacher. I also consult nationally with Solution Tree and through my own work, supporting schools in strengthening curriculum, instruction, and systems aligned to my doctorate in curriculum and instruction.
I am prepared for this role because I have led at every level of the system, managed significant budgets, and delivered results.
