Education
I hold both a doctoral degree and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Texas State University. I also earned an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Experience
I believe in leading by example and holding myself accountable to the community. I also employ a servitude leadership approach and a team concept philosophy. I have numerous years of managerial and supervisory experience working as a public servant. I have over 24 years of experience working as a public servant for the 7th largest city in the US. I have worked in operations, investigations, training, and professional standards. I have dealt with capital improvement projects, enormous budgets, and supervised hundreds of civilian and police employees. I have also been on the pastoral council for my parish as the chairman/president and vice-chairman. Most importantly, I have previously served 2 years as a city councilman for the community.

The highest priority for me as a councilman is ensuring that our community’s day to day needs are met through responsive, transparent, and effective local governance. City government is closest to the people, and that means our decisions have a direct impact on quality of life. My focus is to strengthen the essential services residents rely on and make sure their voices shape the direction of our city. To accomplish this, I intend to focus on three core commitments: meaningful community engagement; data-driven, transparent decision-making; and collaboration across community partners and departments. By combining these core commitments, I feel I can make a meaningful, lasting difference in the everyday lives of our residents and community.
My approach to collaboration is grounded in respect, transparency, and a commitment to serving the entire community, not just those who agree with me. I begin by listening carefully to residents, colleagues, and city staff. Understanding the motivations behind different viewpoints helps turn disagreements into opportunities for better solutions. Even when opinions differ, most people want similar outcomes: safe neighborhoods, reliable services, and a strong quality of life. I focus on identifying those shared goals and using them as the foundation for policy decisions. I rely on data, community input, and clear criteria to guide decisions. My goal is to find balanced, practical solutions that serve the long-term wellbeing of the community.
As Garden Ridge grows, we need to protect what makes our community special. That means prioritizing strong infrastructure, reliable water resources, and thoughtful development that preserves our small-town character. We should also ensure our public safety services stay strong, support the needs of our aging population, and maintain responsible, transparent budgeting. These priorities will help Garden Ridge grow in a way that keeps our community safe, sustainable, and true to the values residents care about.
