Office Sought Shoshone County Coroner
If elected, I would like to utilize the county website, if possible, to engage with the public. I am unaware of how the current coroner relays information to the community. The residents of the county need to be informed of any potential risks to the public. Being accessible to the public when needed is something I view is imperative for an elected official. My contact information will be readily accessible. If elected, I will be a steward of every penny that is allotted to the coroner's budget. According to the 2024-2025 budget, that was $101,974.00.
I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor's in Biological Science with a Minor in Chemistry with the intent on going to medical school. I attended medical school for 2 years, then decided to take another route in life and attended nursing school at Spokane Community College. I have worked as a nurse since 2015 in various rolls. Working at Eastern State Hospital jump started my career into nursing. I floated to the various units and worked extensively on the forensic unit. This unit provides psychiatric treatment and evaluation for individuals involved in the criminal justice system, including competency restoration and services for those found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity.
Coroners deal with traumatic scenes, grieving families, and high-stress cases like homicides and child deaths which lead to mental health and emotional strain. They interact with grieving families which can be a major difficulty communicating with distraught or hostile family members. Working in the nursing profession since 2015, I have dealt with many of these scenarios, so I believe I have the necessary experience to face these challenges.
I believe this role carries profound responsibilities: to speak for those who can no longer speak, to deliver honest answers to grieving families, and to ensure every death investigation is thorough, accurate, and science-based. As your Coroner, I would treat that duty as a sacred trust.
