CoronerThe coroner serves a 4-year term and investigates deaths that occur under suspicious or unknown circumstances, or when not attended by a physician during his/her last illness and the cause of death cannot be certified by a physician. The coroner may authorize an autopsy to be performed to aid in accurately and scientifically determining the cause and manner of death.

The County Coroners in Idaho are elected officials who have the responsibilities of reporting deaths to the Local Registar of Vital Statistics. This process ensures all deaths are reported and health data is maintained. My mission would be to ensure complete and accurate reports, assist law enforcement when needed and maintain a professional and compassionate manner when dealing with grieving family members.
As the previous Fire Chief for Central Fire District in Jefferson County, I made it a commitment to the CFD members and the patrons to respond to calls that were involving a death. I was a State certified EMT and maintained this certification throughout my career. I have seen the many different scenarios of death, and I feel comfortable with getting the proper paperwork done to ensure expedient results.
I live in the most centralized area of population in Jefferson County and I will be available to respond in a timely manner. I will work closely with law enforcement as necessary. The State requires that the coroner attend/maintains trainings and I will do so as required.

Idaho Code 19-4301 requires Coroners to investigate six types of deaths. Code 31-2801A requires Coroners to determine cause and manner of death
I was a death investigator with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office for twenty six years. I have investigated and or supervised death investigations as county coroner for the past nineteen years. I was and advanced EMT and an EMS instructor for the state of Idaho.
Law enforcements in Jefferson County are my death investigators and I have a great working relationship with the Sheriff's Office and the Rigby PD
