Payette County Commissioner District 2
The three-member Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of the county. County Commissioner is the only office that has legislative, executive and judicial responsibilities and duties. Commissioners have the power to pass ordinances, adopt budgets, fix tax levy rates and oversee the county budget. They are charged with the duty of supervising the official conduct of all county officers as their conduct relates to public monies and revenues, as well as supervising appointed boards and committees. They also act as the Board of Equalization. The Board sits as a quasi-judicial body to hear various matters, including planning and zoning requests, property valuation protests and requests for cancellation of taxes, and indigent issues among many others.

Campaign Statement
As a 35 year resident of Payette County, I am honored to serve as County Commissioner in District 2. Before and since becoming Commissioner, I have been involved in multiple efforts to protect our valuable agricultural land through appropriate land use decision-making. I serve on boards of the Payette Soil and Water Conservation District, Southwest District Health, and the Idaho Oil and Gas Commission, as well as the Legislative Committee for the Idaho Association of Counties. During my 4 years as Commissioner, I have striven to maintain low property taxes, while supporting our critical first responders and building infrastructure for the future.

County Commissioner
Our county is struggling to maintain aging facilities and keep up with new demands caused by growth. I would like to implement impact fees for our paramedics and jail so that growth will help pay for necessary infrastructure. I also aim to secure funding for county fairground improvements during my tenure. As a long-term dream, I would love to establish connectivity for walkers, bikers, and general recreation between the south and north ends of our county so more people can enjoy the natural beauty along the Payette River.
I served on the Payette County Planning and Zoning Commission for 16 years before being elected County Commissioner in 2022. Since becoming Commissioner, I have also served on numerous boards including the Soil and Water Conservation District, Southwest District Health, Sand Hollow Community Hall, and the Idaho Oil and Gas Commission. I have been active in the Idaho Association of Counties, including the Legislative Committee and an advisory committee to evaluate health district funding. I enjoy being involved in community events and am always looking for ways that the county can improve the lives of its citizens, including spearheading special projects for community beautification and cleanup.
The county's biggest challenge is keeping up with growth with a budget limited by state statute. This has led to jail overcrowding and straining of Emergence Response units such as paramedics. Modernizing facilities such as the jail will require voter buy-in through ballot initiatives for bonds or levies, which is a high hurdle. Overseeing the county budget is the primary responsibility of the County Commissioners, but I aim to leave the county in better fiscal shape than I found it.
Communicating with voters is challenging with the changing media landscape, but I am always willing to engage and I welcome feedback or interaction with constituents at any time.
