Oneida County Commissioner District 1

The three-member Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of the county. County Commissioner is the only office that has legislative, executive and judicial responsibilities and duties. Commissioners have the power to pass ordinances, adopt budgets, fix tax levy rates and oversee the county budget. They are charged with the duty of supervising the official conduct of all county officers as their conduct relates to public monies and revenues, as well as supervising appointed boards and committees. They also act as the Board of Equalization. The Board sits as a quasi-judicial body to hear various matters, including planning and zoning requests, property valuation protests and requests for cancellation of taxes, and indigent issues among many others.

Office Sought County Commissioner
My campaign is focused on unifying the citizens of our county. Government should be the servant of the community, not its master. To me, there are a few indicators of the achievement of that goal. One would be scheduling commissioner meetings when the largest body of constituents are available. Another would be prohibiting ordinances from benefitting some at the expense of others. I am also very interested creating an environment where all county employees flourish.
I have expansive experience working for state and federal employers. I have also worked in the private sector. The focus of my employment was analyzing business practices and providing real time improvements that saved each entity time and money. Every employer had its own bureaucracy and self imposed limitations that brought with it obsolete and/or unnecessary business practices - which significantly impacted expenses. Correcting those practices freed up precious resources that could be applied to other business or service units.

I have also been involved in community service organizations for my entire adult life. Leading state-wide organizations as well as local groups.
Unifying our community by providing access to the Commission - currently, the commissioners meet during the business day, limiting those who work during that time from attending meetings without incurring great expense. This alone will assure voices being heard and impacts being evaluated.

Retention of County Employees - the county hires and trains employees and then loses them to other employers. There are more than a few synergies that can be achieved to limit this condition.

Scrutinizing the budget to find non-employee areas to maximize tax dollars received.
There are great options for County Commissioners this election cycle. Each are outstanding candidates. Each brings strengths to the table.

My commitment will be to bring about unity and individual liberty. I also promise that I will treat each tax dollar as sacred - each of us trades our property (income) for the benefit of the county. Each of us needs to feel that our labors are honored by those whom we elect.
