Nez Perce County Commissioner District 1
The three-member Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of the county. County Commissioner is the only office that has legislative, executive and judicial responsibilities and duties. Commissioners have the power to pass ordinances, adopt budgets, fix tax levy rates and oversee the county budget. They are charged with the duty of supervising the official conduct of all county officers as their conduct relates to public monies and revenues, as well as supervising appointed boards and committees. They also act as the Board of Equalization. The Board sits as a quasi-judicial body to hear various matters, including planning and zoning requests, property valuation protests and requests for cancellation of taxes, and indigent issues among many others.

I would like to continue to work on ensuring we have a necessity only budget that is clear and transparent. Sustainability in today's time means looking for ways to save and also opportunities for other revenue streams. I hope to also ensure all policies and procedures are relevant and necessary to ensuring a productive and content staff throughout the county. I hope to enhance our justice services to ensure our men and women have the tools necessary to ensure the safety of our community while addressing the needs of our youth to ensure we are deterring crime whenever possible. I hope to continue to connect NPC to our state government to ensure we capitalize on every opportunity and make our voice heard when it counts.
Having served as a City Counselor for three years and serving in my second year as Commissioner, I have an inside look of local government. I also lead a company of over 130 employees that allows me to stay up to date on the skills necessary to ensure we are compliant, efficient as possible, and serving our constituents well. Understanding the complexities of employment law, insurances, budgeting, grant writing, state laws, and Idaho administrative rules allow me to navigate the needs of the county with efficiency and certainty.
Ensuring that our state legislature understands our needs in North Central Idaho and how their decisions can impact is an area that I feel has been neglected in the past. We need a voice at the State level to ensure the decisions by our legislature is not increasing the load of property tax payers as well as someone who will do the work necessary to take advantage of opportunities to attain resources that will ensure the upkeep of our local infrastructure and assets.
Ensuring that our local ordinances and process are user and business friendly so that growth can occur to serve the growing needs of our community is imperative as well.
Law enforcement and just services need an advocate to ensure we have the tools necessary for our safety.
I care about people. And because of that I work hard, I look for ways to be efficient, and I find the joy in life. I'm honest, I have integrity, and I will shrug off the negativity that can impede success. You may not always find me in the office but you can always get a hold of me. You can know that I will come to the table and if needed walk alongside someone when necessary. I love my work, where I live, and I'm willing to do the hard things to ensure success.
