I’m running again to ensure the people of D23 have the most conservative candidate available to represent them on the commission. Every tax dollar should be scrutinized. Needs should be prioritized over Wants. Teachers’ salaries should take precedence over administrative bloat. County employees should have sustainable pay increases. I will continue to fight for term limits and to restore the county’s right to have a voice at the table while cities continue voting to annex rural land. We need to preserve these rural areas. We are not a suburb of Nashville!
Growth is the topic of every post in every city in the county. How much is too much? The infrastructure is at its limit. For too long, growth for the sake of growth has been the default in Sumner county. We need to slow down. Only commercial growth should be prioritized. High density residential and apartments need to stop. This is not a popular idea with candidates supported by developers and special interest PACs however, I was raised here. I listen to my neighbors. I listen to the overwhelming majority of citizens that say enough is enough. I will not take money from developers, special interest groups, nor any PAC. No one will control me and I have no conflicts of interest in this position.
I believe the county should live within its means. The citizens are not a piggy bank. Growth needs to pay for itself. Teachers pay and support from the central office should always be the focus over special projects. Our students scores have not improved, yet the cost per child keeps increasing. Our enrollment has basically flatlined despite our continued growth. School budgets should reflect a solution for this. For the county budget, I will not vote for debt that takes us in the direction of a tax increase. I will not vote for projects that further urbanize the unincorporated areas. Our farms & green spaces reflect our culture. I will always vote to protect those areas. Our culture is who we are. Once it’s gone, you can’t get it back.
