My wife and I have called Sumner County our home for over 36+ years. We raised two children and two grandchildren here and we love our community. While division, unrest and higher crime rates soar in other areas, thanks to our local government and first responders, Sumner County has remained relatively safe and a wonderful place to raise a family. I am running for County Commissioner because I see the need for more conservative representation for our constituents. In order to deliver on less government, safer neighborhoods, more freedom as written in our constitution, we need people in office that will vote to represent the best interests of the people who live here. I believe we all have a responsibility to serve in some capacity.
All of Middle Tennessee is seeing growth on an epic scale. While growth is inevitable and necessary for our county, we must have sustainable growth. Any new development that is allowed in Sumner County, must be vetted and we must ensure that the growth they bring does not place heavy burdens on our infrastructure and especially our taxpayers. Those developers must shoulder a greater responsibility of the infrastructure and resources required to add such developments to our community. I will vote to represent the best interest of our people.
The rapid growth we've experienced in the last 10 years has placed significant strain on our schools and we must ensure that our commission votes to protect the best interests of our students.
I believe in maintaining a balanced budget and ensuring that we strive to reduce spending. Our taxpayers are already over burdened with costs that are out of their control. We have a fiscal responsibility to ensure we keep taxes low and ensure our quality of life in Sumner County is optimal. As mentioned earlier, the cost and impact to the infrastructure should be shouldered by the developers and not our taxpayers. Our investments should always include our school systems and our first responders who keep our communities safe. We must always support our children's education and ensure they are safe. We have one of the best SRO programs in the country and our commission should keep that at the forefront of our discussions.
