Ada County Commissioner, District 1

The three-member Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of the county. County Commissioner is the only office that has legislative, executive and judicial responsibilities and duties. Commissioners have the power to pass ordinances, adopt budgets, fix tax levy rates and oversee the county budget. They are charged with the duty of supervising the official conduct of all county officers as their conduct relates to public monies and revenues, as well as supervising appointed boards and committees. They also act as the Board of Equalization. The Board sits as a quasi-judicial body to hear various matters, including planning and zoning requests, property valuation protests and requests for cancellation of taxes, and indigent issues among many others.

Campaign Statement I am running to keep Ada County livable. We need to plan for growth, not react to it. We need to protect the health of Ada County residents by appointing vetted medical professionals to the Central District Health Board. And we need to make sure that our frontline county workers -- sheriff's deputies, EMTs, and county jail employees -- are compensated appropriately.

1. Handling growth; As an economist, I'll bring a forward-thinking approach to development -- making sure we plan for the future instead of react to it. I'll insist that as we grow, we create housing options at numerous price points and develop in a way that makes public transit efficient and effective. 2. Modernizing the Ada County Jail; I'll support programs that prevent recidivism. I'll also insist that the State of Idaho pays Ada County appropriately for housing state inmates, so the cost of any expansion and modernization doesn't fall solely on Ada County residents. 3. Appointing qualified and vetted medical professionals to the Central District Health Board; I'll support appointing medical professionals who believe in peer-reviewed science to the Board of Health at the Central District Health Department.
I've lived in Ada County for over 30 years and I've experienced it from every level -- college student, construction laborer, beer-delivery driver, Micron employee, and tech start-up worker. I have a degree in economics, so I'm used to envisioning the future and creating policies to help get us there. I also have a degree in finance, so I'm familiar with the budget process and have the discipline to make sure tax dollars are spent wisely.
I enjoy engaging with community members -- fielding questions and receiving feedback -- about local issues and looking for unique, creative ways to solve them. I expect to hold town halls numerous times a year in various parts of the county and plan to be available on a regular basis for Ada County residents who want to engage.
Campaign Statement I’m running for Ada County Commissioner to bring practical leadership, responsible financial management, and strong community engagement to ensure our county grows in a way that supports residents, businesses, and long-term sustainability.

The biggest challenges facing our county are growth, rising costs, and pressure on infrastructure. We are growing quickly, and that puts strain on housing, water, roads, and public services. At the same time, residents are feeling the impact of property taxes and cost of living.

We also need to protect property rights while making sure development happens in a way that works for the whole community. That includes being thoughtful about land use, infrastructure, and long-term resource planning.

My focus is on managing growth responsibly, using resources wisely, and making sure county government delivers results people can see in their daily lives.
I am a business owner in Ada County, so I understand the importance of good management, budgeting, and making responsible financial decisions. I know how to balance costs while still delivering results, which is critical in county government.

I am also deeply involved in my community in Garden City, where I volunteer regularly and serve as co-chair of the marketing committee. Through this work, I collaborate with local leaders, support small businesses, and stay connected to the needs of residents.

In my professional work, I have led communications, managed projects, and worked with nonprofits and community organizations across Idaho. This has given me experience bringing people together, solving problems, and turning ideas into action. I bring a combination of real-world business experience, community involvement, and a strong understanding of local issues, and I am ready to put that to work for Ada County.
Staying engaged with constituents is one of my top priorities. I already spend a lot of time in the community through volunteering, local events, and my work in Garden City, and I plan to continue building on that.

I will be accessible and responsive by holding regular community meetings, attending local events, and making myself available to residents who want to share concerns or ideas. I also plan to use social media and digital platforms to keep people informed and create an easy way for them to reach me.

Just as importantly, I will listen. Good leadership starts with understanding what people are experiencing day to day. I want residents to feel heard, informed, and confident that their voice matters in the decisions being made.
