The county commission is responsible for the fiscal management; infrastructure and public works; administrative appointments and personnel; and public policies of the county.
I would like to continue to advocate for universal free meals for our public schools and increased pay for teachers and public safety professionals.
Universal school meals can be accomplished by a combination of federal and state funding. Specifically, the Federal Community Eligibility Provision allows high-poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students without requiring individual families to submit applications.

Increasing Teacher starting salaries to 50K has already been mandated, but through budgeting, salary increases can be implemented to retain veteran educators. Likewise, public safety professionals’ salaries can be increased through budgetary appropriations and pay scale adjustments.
