I serve on JFAC and balancing the budget without cutting services will be the challenge. I have carried over 75 bills signed by the Governor and hope to continue to be effective for the state of Idaho. My background in finance, business, and insurance helps guide Idaho to be the place to raise a family, be educated and be a place to have fun. I will always fund the police, military and public education. Idaho does a pretty good job of giving people a hand up when needed and teaching them how to fish instead of a handout. We can do better. Helping those that cannot help themselves is the proper role of government, but we need proper sideboards to keep it legitimate. I can help do that with others when elected.
Graduate of Rigby High School; associate degree in business from BYU-Idaho; bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Idaho State University; chartered life insurance underwriter and chartered financial consultant from American College in Pennsylvania; commercial and residential real estate developer; served on the Revenue & Taxation Committee, the State Affairs Committee, the Business Committee; currently serving the Environmental, Energy, & Technology Committee, the Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee, the Property Taxes & Revenue Expenditures Committee, the Economic Outlook & Revenue Assessment Committee (EORAC), the Your Health Idaho Exchange Board, and the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs.
An Idaho legislator, if done correctly, is nearly a full-time job. I spend 4 hours a day easily on constituent questions, touring projects that the State funds, and speaking to those I represent. Legislators need to be an example to the community and being to as many functions as possible to let the people know you care and want to help. Serving in the legislature is a labor of love. We do not do it for money; in fact, I lose money during the session. I have a firm commitment to keep Idaho moving in the right direction and with low taxes, maintaining property rights, and the best place to be educated. With the growth in Idaho that will be the challenge.
Serving on JFAC I am a budget writer and we have to balance budgets and have compassion for those that need government intervention. Not an easy task. But one worthy of consideration and one that is necessary. I am sure with my background and experience I can continue to perpetuate Idaho into the future. The last 8 years have seen major cuts in taxes while Idaho has continued to have record growth. I would hope Idaho would continue to be the place where I want my children to raise their children, be prosperous, and be educated. I look forward to serving Idaho in the future. I would ask for your vote.
