The man with a plan will:
Reduce traffic by adjusting traffic flow around the city center, adjusting traffic light timing and implementation, and provide well planned and implemented alternatives to automobile transportation.
Harrison is the most beautiful street in all of Boise, and people often go out of there way to travel up and down it, or to visit it for special occasions. This wasn't an accident, it was the result of brilliant planning. This is but a taste of what I have in store for the entire city. All of Boise can be as beautiful and inviting as Harrison boulevard, while providing walkable paths and easy access to automobile, bicycle, and trolley transportation options.
I have traveled around America and the world and lived in many different cities. I have learned what makes a city enjoyable, functional, and safe. I was also mentored by the AICPA auditor of the year for two of the largest counties in the world.
I lived in Southern California and saw the 2 hour commutes (each way) to travel 30 miles. I lived in Portland and saw the functional MAX light rail train be taken over by rampant vagabond youth. I lived in Philadelphia and saw the functional metro system lead to lawless parts of town, with roving gangs on dirt bikes and quads stopping traffic at intersections by driving in circles and yelling.
Many of these cities had wonderful things that were ruined by a few bad decisions.
City planning and building codes need to accommodate livable cities with open spaces and farmland *as well as* single family starter homes AND quaint affordable apartments in mixed use buildings downtown.
Education is also terrible, with teachers being incentivized to pass students who should be held back, resulting in about HALF of a recent class of high school freshman FAILING a fourth grade math test. We need to give school choice and homeschool choice to parents so they can choose not to send their children to failure factories.
