1) Curb enhancement appropriations to stop growing Idaho's government at taxpayers' expense
2) Address land use issues that are driving up property taxes
3) Address issues that are threatening Idaho agriculture
4) Help Idaho address the burden of illegal immigration
5) Protect family values, including protecting the lives of the unborn, protecting minors from inappropriate programs and materials in our schools, increasing medical freedom and continuing to strengthen the role of parents as primary stakeholders in their children's lives
I have run my own business, spent two decades as a practicing veterinarian, and have spent another two decades in pastoral ministry, working with people from all walks of life. I'm a student of history, which helps to inform of best practices in governance. I've been involved as a volunteer in Idaho politics since I was a teenager, and am a Precinct Committeeman in Canyon County. I'm a wife and have raised two step-children. My Christian faith is an ever-present guide in decision-making, as it was for America's founders.
1) Rising property taxes are threatening longtime homeowners, particularly our seniors. A combination of curbing state spending, addressing rising costs to counties from poorly-planned development, and rethinking how we cover the costs of community services could greatly reduce or possibly even eliminate property taxes.
2) Currently many good bills that address pressing issues are landing in the drawers of committee chairs in our state legislature. Addressing legislative rules to ensure that these bills make it to the floor is a challenge I plan to address.
3) Ensuring that our family farms and ranches get the same attention as our corporate agricultural entities is a priority
4) Removing threats to personal freedoms is a priority.
For fiscal responsibility, family values and freedom, vote Heidi for Idaho!
