Office Sought State Senator
I would like to ensure Idaho schools have the funding they need, especially traditional public schools and public charter schools. I'd like to see taxes lowered on working people, especially the sales tax on groceries and used goods, including used cars, thrift store merchandise, and anything on which a sales tax has already been paid. There is no reason tax should be collected more than once on any good or service.
I have lived in Idaho for the last 26 years and, along with my wife Veronika, have raised our three children here. I have been self-employed for over 20 years in the restaurant and bar business, and have worked on many levels with state and local officials. I have served on community boards, including West Boise Little League (Treasurer), and Peace Valley Charter School (Treasurer, Vice Chair current), and have gained a great understanding of public organizations and the funding challenges they face. I am an independent thinker with conservative values and an open mind.
Idaho has experienced tremendous growth over the last two decades. This has created many opportunities for the State to improved the quality of life for its residents. Unfortunately, many of our citizens feel life has gotten worse, not better, primarily due to the increased costs of living and, in Boise, traffic congestion. Creating improvements in the quality of life will be my goal and greatest challenge as Senator. In the same vein, helping Idaho develop an economy that will keep our children close to home should be the goal of our government. There is a way to see the growth continue without the growing pains. We just have to work together to find it.
I am a family-focused person who has really enjoyed being a citizen of Idaho. My presence in the State Senate will allow me to help the state move forward in areas where there is broad consensus and, hopefully, make life more affordable and fulfilling for all of our state's residents.
