Campaign Statement
I am running for the Senate seat in West Boise's District 15 to bring a balanced voice on issues that are important to D15 residents. This is fundamentally the job elected officials should do. There has been too much allegience to special interests and big out-of-state political donors buying favor from the majority party. Idaho needs common sense governance that is fiscally responsible using resources for priorities inportant to us not those wealtly enough to buy favor. We are last in the nation in per pupil funding for public education. Thousands of citizens have lost medical and disability benefits which were cut to balance a budget deficit created by the fervor to cut taxes that benefit the wealthy. We have other choices.

Idaho Senate District 15
If elected, I will work to protect and support public education, restore appropriate funding to Medicaid, and work to have a reasonable budget that does not continue to hurt Idanoans. I will listen to citizens who look to government to work for them and not special interests. Idaho's population is growing so we need an appropriate tax structure that will manage growth, address affordable housing challenges, fund infrastructure, and look to the future. We need to protect our public lands and natural resources. We need to grow our work force through investments in CTE and higher education. I will work to create a collaborative and respectful legislature that is responsive to and respectful of all its citizens.
I have spent the past 24 years as a school board trustee so I know what policy governance looks like. I have experience in policy creation and review, facility planning, systemic strategic planning for optimum results, communication and labor relations as well as community outreach. I have interacted with the legislature numerous times over the years particularly over education and budget issues and have served on several state education related committees.
Protecting public education funding will continue to be a challenge as out-of-state and extreme interests continue to push for more voucher funding. Our constitutional obligation is in jeopardy. I also anticipate a challenge in keeping public lands out of the hands of developers. Budgeting will also be a challenge. Idaho has a revenue problem, not a spending problem. We must have the will and resources to care for our most vulnerable citizens, our veterans, disabled adults and children and unhoused families and individuals. I also hope to challenge the legislature to stay in its lane and honor the local control of entities at the school board, county, and city levels.
I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with others in respectfully solving problems. I approach this opportunity with the best of intentions for our state and want to listen to the citizens in my district and represent them at the statehouse.
