My primary motivation is my daughter. She isn't old enough to attend school yet, but when she is, I want her to attend a school where I know she will be safe. That I know she will be given the best opportunities to grow and learn, both academically and as an individual, while making a few lifelong friends along the way.
My first priority is dignity in teaching. Our educators are the district’s greatest asset in its mission to educate. We need a culture of respect, with competitive pay, and manageable workload to ensure we retain those teachers.
Next is a quality education. Our schools must remain focused on the mission of education and critical thinking, not outside agendas. We need the board to stay focused on objective academic data, like reading and math proficiency, rather than social trends.
Finally, freedom and safety. Our students must be kept safe, but learning requires a sense of liberty to explore and grow. Thus we need unobtrusive security that works in the background but ensure safety tech doesn't overreach into our families' private lives
Listen to the teachers. Listen to the people that are the reasons why there is even a school board. Then give them what tools they actually need to succeed. By focusing on retaining our teachers and providing safe, well-equipped learning environments, we ensure that our budget is an investment in our children's future.
My involvement in Katy ISD comes in two ways. I am a graduate of Katy ISD and I used to work for Katy ISD. I started off as a substitute teacher, then became a LIFE skills para, and finally settled in as a full time teacher. Thus, I have seen our district from many different angles and eras.
None, I have no formal training or practical experience in governance. I do not possess the typical charismatic traits of a career politician.
However, I am a teacher. My life is spent in the classroom, not in a boardroom. I believe the best person to lead teachers is someone who understands the weight of public education and the needs of students and staff firsthand.
Local governance is meant to be the community governing itself, just neighbors working with neighbors. I am simply that neighbor who is ready to do the work and to do right by our neighbors. I am committed to making Katy ISD a place that I would be proud to have my daughter attend as a student.
I was talking to some community members about this very idea, and they were not sure on actually what the school board does. This got me thinking; the board should not be some mysterious power of the school, but a visible member of the community. Thus I will urge the board to have more of a community presence, and being proactive in explaining what it does and how it does it through accessible updates and neighborhood outreach. We need a school board of the people that is known and reachable.
The best way to make an effective school board is transparency. This can be done by setting board times and agendas with an eye to for allowing the community to participate. If we don't have the key stake holders of the parents, of our neighbors, of our students at the table then what are we doing?
I’m running to help guide our district through growth while keeping students first. I want to support teachers, listen to families, and make practical decisions that strengthen academics and prepare students for long term success.
My top priorities are supporting teachers, strengthening academic outcomes, and improving communication with families. Teachers are the backbone of student success, so I would advocate for retention efforts, strong classroom support, and ensure they have the resources they need. Academic success means focusing on core skills and expanding opportunities like career and technical education so every student is prepared for life after graduation. Clear, transparent communication is also critical. I want families to feel informed, heard, and confident in district decisions.
I would focus on transparency, accountability, and student centered spending. Every dollar we spend should directly support classroom instruction, teacher resources, and student outcomes. I would prioritize regular budget reviews to identify inefficiencies and redirect those funds where they have the greatest impact. Investing in teacher retention and classroom support reduces long term costs tied to turnover. I would also support responsible long term planning to avoid sudden shortfalls, without overburdening taxpayers. Clear communication with the community ensures trust and understanding of how funds are used.
I’ve stayed actively engaged by reviewing board meetings, and listening to concerns from parents, students, and teachers in the community. It has given me a clearer understanding of the challenges facing our schools and where improvements
My EMS and military experience have taught me leadership, accountability, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. In both roles, I’ve had to assess situations quickly, rely on training, and act in the best interest of others. These experiences strengthened my discipline, teamwork, and built my foundation of commitment to service. I’ve worked with diverse groups, communicated clearly in high stress environments, and learned the importance of trust and responsibility. I bring a calm, practical approach to problem-solving and a strong sense of duty to serve my community, presenting qualities that directly translate to thoughtful, effective decision-making in district policies and governance.
The school board should maintain a family and people first relationship built on trust, transparency, and respect. Families should feel heard, valued, and involved in decisions that affect their children. I prioritize open communication through regular updates, community forums, and meetings. Actively listening to concerns, following up with clear answers, and ensuring that our decisions reflect the needs of students, parents, and teachers.
I will hold regular forums, provide clear updates, actively listen to concerns, and ensure decisions reflect the needs of students, parents, and teachers.
My motivation stems from a firm belief that a school board should function as a high-performing leadership team, not a platform for personal or political agendas. In recent years, we have seen how self-interest and outside political distractions can erode board cohesion, shifting the focus away from our primary mission: student achievement.
The most urgent challenge is "right-sizing" our budget to eliminate a recent budget shortfall. My approach is rooted in fiscal responsibility: we must find efficiencies at the administrative level and in non-essential areas so that we protect the quality of instruction and those closest to student impact.
We also must re-examine benefits packages for teachers and paraprofessionals; if we want to retain the best talent in Texas, we must remain competitive and supportive of those on the front lines. Board members must guide leadership to be more aggressive in finding the most affordable and comprehensive options.
I will advocate for a "classroom-first" budget audit to ensure that necessary cuts have the least possible impact on students. Additionally, I would expect regular budget reports in which board members and the administration work together to review items line by line to identify opportunities for efficiencies. Finally, I will insist that impact is fully understood before final decision-making. This ensures that the experience of the classroom teacher, school administrator, or whomever is affected is taken into consideration.
I am a Katy KEYS mentor, a member of the Campus Advisory Team for Adams Junior High, and a member of Katy Leadership class of 2025-2026
Combining my 25+ years of education (curriculum and instruction) and administrative (fiscal, governance, strategic planning, change management) expertise with the perspective of a proud Katy ISD parent, I offer a unique "360-degree" view of our schools. I can bridge the gap between complex oversight and the daily needs of our students, ensuring fiscal responsibility while protecting the high-quality education my own children used as a springboard to success.
The Board must prioritize mutual respect and radical transparency. Board members are stewards of the community's tax dollars; they deserve to see exactly how that investment serves our students. I will advocate for "Plain Language" budget reports, create structured opportunities for feedback, and ensure board meetings remain focused on academic success rather than political agendas. By treating the community as a partner, we ensure Katy ISD remains accountable to those it serves.
I’ll bring a "students-first" approach that replaces theater with professional governance. I deeply respect my colleagues for their unpaid, demanding service. Leveraging my administrative expertise, I will facilitate difficult conversations and navigate conflict to find a consensus that protects our taxpayers and ensures academic excellence.
