A school board is a democratically elected body that oversees the provision of education to children residing in your District. Missoula County School Board Frenchtown School Board Trustee
I am running for school board because I enjoy being involved in my daughter's education. My wife and I have three daughters, 2 (twins) in 5th grade, and 1 in 7th grade. I volunteer at the school whenever I get the chance. I would make a great trustee because I'm levelheaded and I care deeply about public education. I am a giver by nature; I just want to help Frenchtown school continue to be the high quality institution that it is.
Teacher retention is really important. Doing whatever is possible to keep Frenchtown teachers' pay competitive as well and getting them the materials and support they need to succeed. I also think it's important to support electives and extracurricular activities within the school that expose students to possible career pathways and just generally help broaden their minds.
I think Frenchtown school district does a really good job of using the relatively small budget they have. We operate on a much smaller amount of money per student than almost any other school in the county. From what I have experienced, they are very transparent and happy to explain any budget questions in as much detail as necessary.
