A county judge in the state of Texas is elected to the county commissioners court to conduct the general business of the county. The Court consists of the county judge who is elected at-large and four commissioners who are elected by geographical precinct. The county judge is the presiding officer of the county commissioners court. A county judge represents the county in many administrative functions, serves as the budget officer in counties with fewer than 225,000 residents, and serves as the head of emergency management. The term of office is four years.Duties: works with broad judicial duties, such as presiding over misdemeanor criminal and small civil cases, probate matters, and appeals from the Justice of the Peace Courts for the county. Some duties performed by a county judge may vary from county to county.
Kendall County shaped me. It’s not just a place, it’s who I am. That foundation prepared me to lead. I bring decades of real-world leadership managing people, projects, and complex operations. I have worked with public safety officials, business owners, and community leaders, giving me a clear understanding of how county
decisions affect residents. My background as a banker and financial advisor emphasizes problem-solving, accountability, and collaboration. I understand the County Judge’s role as presiding officer of Commissioners Court and the county’s chief executive, and I am prepared to lead meetings, build consensus, and conduct county
business transparently and efficiently.
I have extensive experience overseeing large budgets that require careful planning, prioritization, and fiscal discipline. In my professional career, I have evaluated expenditures, controlled costs, and ensured funds were allocated responsibly. This experience translates directly to county government, where every dollar must be justified and aligned with core services. I understand how to review line items, ask the right questions, and balance operational needs while protecting taxpayers from unnecessary spending.
Kendall County’s budget must continually adapt to growth, infrastructure demands, and public safety needs. Rising costs and population growth mean we must regularly reassess priorities. The issue is not simply whether the budget is adequate, but whether funds are being used efficiently. As County Judge, I would focus on
identifying waste, improving transparency, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are directed toward essential services like roads, law enforcement, and emergency response.
My top priorities are improving infrastructure while respecting property rights, investing in public safety, and lowering property taxes. First, we must address roads and transportation to keep pace with continued growth. Second, I will ensure our law enforcement and emergency services always have the resources they need to keep residents safe. Third, I will make sure our budget is balanced and find ways to lower property taxes by working with our state and federal partners, while ensuring decisions are made with input from residents, not dictated from the top down.
Under the Texas Constitution, the County Judge serves as the presiding officer of Commissioners Court and the county’s chief administrator. I will advance my priorities by setting clear agendas, fostering productive discussion, and working collaboratively with commissioners and the citizens of Kendall County to pass sound policy. I will ensure decisions are data-driven, receive copious input, and are always fiscally responsible. By building consensus, engaging with government partners, and listening to residents, I will use the authority of the office to guide policy without overstepping its constitutional limits.
