I have a BBA in accounting, a masters degree in public administration and am a registered CPA. I have been in the general assembly since 2013. During this time, I have served on many House committees and specialized working groups such as the Public Safety Working group that was instrumental in the passage of the Safe T Act and most recently the Public Transit Working group that led to the passage of transit bill in 2025, the establishment of NITA and the efforts to overhaul a failing public transportation system.
To continue to advocate for education funding and how Illinois will meet the challenges that face our children in our ever changing world for all children, including the neurodivergent and other disabilities. Another issue that organically arises from these efforts is what we as a state can do to help shore up the future for children with disabilities that may out live their parents.
To collaborate with all legislators (both sides of the aisle) to figure out how to better fund the services that are currently being funded through the property tax system. It's an immense problem that seemingly no one can solve. This is no small undertaking.
To continue to chip away at the high cost of prescription drugs.
And so much more...
Spending taxpayer dollars on necessary expenditures that mirror our values all while making sure that other fiscal pressures are not made worse by new legislative initiatives that cost money and may need to wait. Government exists to help it's people. Period. Government can not be run like a business but it can use smart business practices like measuring outcomes, holding directors to account and making tough decisions to stop spending on programs that clearly don't show progress in reasonable timeframes. Illinois has very different needs and challenges as you travel north to south. We need to recognize there may be things we can do to curb spending but also know that many of the factors driving up costs are being done federally.
The federal deployment of ICE has been a disaster. It was made very clear to me and others early on that the reasons we, the American public, were given for their deployment is not what is actually happening. ICE has conducted themselves as a terror organization and though they may have been able to catch and deport some non citizen criminals, the majority of those have not fallen into that category. I think most people want the same thing and no one wants dangerous criminals out in our streets, no matter if they are citizens or not. We all want to see the law upheld and no one can be above the law - that includes those who are enforcing the law and those who are sending Federal agents to do a job. That is how I plan to vote as a legislator
I have taken votes every year to expand the opportunity for people to vote. Democracy depends on the people being able to make their choices at the polls. I will continue to insist on and support secure and fair elections and expanding opportunities for every registered voter to be able to participate without fear or suppression. I think the states are seeing what happens when laws can be ignored and new maps can be drawn at any given time to favor one political agenda over another. Perhaps the mapping laws need to have stronger safeguards in place.

My 3 main priorities are Financial Accountability and Efficiency, Tax Cuts, and School Choice/Education Accountability
The General Assembly’s role in addressing the increasing cost of living is both proactive and reactive. Through legislative action, budgetary decisions, oversight, and stakeholder engagement, the General Assembly should seek to promote economic stability and improve the quality of life for all citizens. Ongoing efforts and adaptive policies are essential to meet the evolving needs of communities in the face of rising costs.
Due to the enormity of the immigration problem, the use of ICE agents to locate violators of our national immigration laws is necessary. Our laws are in place to protect the citizens of our nation, states and cities. Immigration is a privilege. But is must be governed by laws. To break the law to enter our country should never be allowed. The standard of protection that immigration laws provide must be respected and enforced. Additionally, ICE agents must know the law, and enforce the law in a fair and human manner.
Partisan gerrymandering should be illegal. Maps should not be redrawn to win a majority seat anywhere in the country. Voters should choose politicians, politicians should not choose voters! This is one of the biggest risks to the protection of our democratic process.
