I am a 20-year educator, including 15 years as a bilingual teacher in Chicago Public Schools. I serve as Social Emotional Learning Lead and PBIS Coach at Stevenson Elementary, and I was elected Local School Council teacher representative and secretary. I hold two master’s degrees: Community and Teacher Leadership (NEIU) and Public Policy (UIC), and I am a pre-law student preparing for law school. I serve as a community navigator and nonprofit board member, helping families access resources, healthcare, and legal support. As the first in my family to graduate college, I know what opportunity requires. I am running to deliver responsive, accountable leadership, fight for affordability, and help neighbors navigate state services with dignity.
My top three priorities are affordability, strong public schools, and access to healthcare and housing. First, I will expand property tax relief, lower utility burdens, and address prescription drug costs so working families can keep more of what they earn. Second, I will protect and fully fund the evidence-based school funding formula and invest in educator retention and bilingual services. Third, I will strengthen community-based healthcare, expand affordable housing options, and protect tenants from unjust practices. These priorities matter because families cannot thrive without financial stability, great schools, and trustworthy accessible services. I will focus on responsive constituent service so neighbors get answers and results now.
My approach is fiscally responsible and people-centered: protect reserves, pay down long-term liabilities, and fund priorities with clear outcomes. Illinois should use multi-year budgeting, stronger oversight, and performance reviews to reduce waste and duplication. I support investing more in evidence-based school funding, preventive healthcare, mental health, and infrastructure that lowers future costs. We should spend more efficiently by modernizing state IT, improving procurement, and targeting administrative overhead so dollars reach services. Revenue should be fair and stable, closing loopholes that shift costs onto working families while supporting small businesses and job growth. I will publish plain-language budget updates monthly.
Illinois should plan with a long-term capital strategy that is climate-smart, safety-first and equity-driven. We must harden infrastructure for extreme heat and flooding by upgrading stormwater systems, green alleys, tree canopy, and resilient public buildings. Transportation investments should prioritize reliable CTA and Pace service, safer streets, and freight safety, while repairing roads and bridges with transparent project metrics. Modernization also means lead service line replacement, water main upgrades, broadband buildout, and energy-efficient retrofits that cut utility bills. The state should leverage federal dollars, require local input, and measure results over 5–10 years.
Illinois must balance safety, accountability, and prevention. Effective policing and community trust should work together through training, transparency, and clear constitutional standards. I support investing in violence prevention, youth programs, mental health response teams, and reentry services that reduce recidivism. Diversion for nonviolent offenses and treatment-based approaches can improve outcomes and lower costs. Public safety also depends on stable housing, quality schools, and economic opportunity. I will strengthen collaboration among law enforcement, courts, and community organizations so responses are fair and sustainable. I support victim services, restorative justice, and limiting pretrial detention for low risk cases. too
