The duty of the Saline County Sheriff is to protect life, enforce the law fairly, and serve the people with integrity. The sheriff should be a leader of public safety, guiding a professional sheriff’s office, and ensuring deputies are properly trained, equipped and supported in their difficult job. Most importantly, the sheriff answers to the people and must earn their trust through transparent leadership.
I have worked at the local, state and federal level as an officer, investigator and police chief. I have experience in a broad range of law enforcement roles and have led agencies though difficult, complex situations with success. My military background and leadership as a senior NCO with 23 years of experience has taught me how important the role of a leader is in an agency.
Deputies deserve decisive leadership that teaches and mentors in each step of their career. On day one, I will shorten the chain of command, provide much needed deputies on the street to provide a safer working environment for the deputies and increase public safety for the residents of Saline County. Those deputies will be trained and equipped to safely deal with emergencies and calls for service while holding themselves and their supervisors accountable to a standard of professionalism.
