How will you ensure that the Harris County Department of Education effectively supports school districts that lack adequate resources?

What is your approach to early childhood education programs, and how will you work to expand access for underserved families in Harris County?

I would prioritize underserved districts by identifying where resource gaps are greatest and building partnerships to help address them. HCDE can work with school districts, community organizations, local businesses, colleges, and other partners to expand access to educational programs, training, technology, and student support. I would also focus on making sure available resources reach the districts and students who need them most, while reviewing outcomes to ensure those partnerships are actually improving opportunities for students.
I believe early childhood education should give children a strong foundation before they enter elementary school. I would focus on identifying areas where access is limited and work with school districts, community organizations, and existing providers to expand quality programs. I would also support better outreach so families understand what resources are available and how to access them. Any expansion should be measured by participation, school readiness, results, and cost effectiveness so resources are directed toward programs that truly help children succeed.
