I have 15+ years of experience, including as a nonprofit executive for Planned Parenthood, as Travis County Democratic Party Chair, being a community advocate for equity, and working as a court clerk.
Poll workers as one of the most important parts of the voter experience. When someone walks into a polling place, the election workers are the face of our democracy. They need to be welcoming, knowledgeable, and confident in their responsibilities. We have hosted election worker job fairs, strengthened outreach to community partners, and made the Student Election Clerk Program a priority.
During my first term, I created a division dedicated to community outreach including year-round voter education. Some of our efforts include partnering with the LWV on efforts like Paws to the Polls, conducting mock elections at schools such as elementary career days, and meeting grassroots groups like IMOMs directly to run hands-on election demos and answer questions about the voting process.
To improve access, our office has expanded to two additional satellite locations for Recording services beyond main office. We're procuring a notification tool so residents can monitor documents filed under their name or address, helping prevent property deed fraud. We're balancing these access improvements with strict ID verification and redaction protocols to keep sensitive records secure.
Our office is defending vote-by-mail in the LULAC v. Executive Office lawsuit as a plaintiff, we are partnering with the Sheriff's office on law enforcement security training, and adding on-site/cyber safeguards. In addition to elections, our office has worked with community partners on estate planning access for low-income residents and invested in online access tools for historical records.

I have 30 years of experience w/ the Travis County Elections Division. Serving in various roles required learning policies and procedures, maintaining good record keeping and strong people management.
I would begin by raising awareness of who I am and what I do. A County Clerk who is both active and visible in the community is one of the most impactful ways to share information, increase public understanding and encourage civic participation. Training would meet varied learning needs-from novice to advanced—w/ accessible hands-on practice and ongoing support, to help establish and anchor them.
Voter education is truly a Top Priority! I will add a tab on the Clerk's website that provides updated local and legislative changes, establish and maintain a program that shares information to news outlets, and continue the Nash Nuggets via social media. I will incorporate virtual and in-person forums and educational sessions about election laws, voting procedures and the voting process.
People greatly benefit from having digitized access. I would like to establish conversations with other Texas counties and branches of government, for an awareness of vendors that can provide secure, accessible and fiscally responsible services to county residents. Having a tiered level of access is ideal. Level 1 - Open/Downloadable public access and Level 2 - Restricted to proven identification.
Dignity, Excellence, Accountability, Effective Operations and Customer Service all matter to Me equally. I endeavor to invest in both the staff and the community. Employees can provide great service when education is understood and meaningful. The community benefits when information is clearly provided and easily accessible. I will Empower staff, Include the community and Champion for growth.
