I’m a former public school educator who spent seven years in the Texas Legislature, rising from legislative staffer to Chief of Staff for State Representative Donna Howard.
As a former public school educator, this is personal. I’ll fight to raise the basic allotment and tie it to inflation, increase teacher pay, fully fund special education, and reform recapture so public education dollars stay in public education. Our schools deserve reliable funding they can plan around, not one-time fixes.
Texas can grow without sacrificing reliability or our environment. I’ll support a more resilient grid, an all-of-the-above energy strategy that expands renewables, and investments in transmission. We must also secure our water future by repairing aging infrastructure, reducing water loss, and investing in conservation and new supply.
Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation. I’ll fight to expand Medicaid, re-establish reproductive healthcare, strengthen maternal and mental health services, and lower prescription drug costs. No Texan should skip a doctor’s visit or go into debt because they cannot afford the care they need.
Data centers can bring investment and jobs, but Texans should not subsidize their strain on our grid and water supply. I support stronger transparency on energy and water use, conservation and efficiency standards, and requiring large users to help pay for the infrastructure their demand requires. Growth must be responsible and protect our natural resources.
