I would make school funding predictable, prioritize classroom instruction and increased teacher pay over bureaucracy, and demand transparency and accountability for every taxpayer dollar. I would support policies that improve outcomes, especially reading proficiency, while giving local districts flexibility to meet their students’ needs.
Prioritize restoring and securing Texas’ water supply to meet current needs before permitting additional heavy water-use industries. Invest first in conservation, storage, aquifer recharge, desalination and infrastructure, then build the capacity necessary for responsible economic growth. Reliable, affordable energy must likewise be supported by expanding dependable generation and infrastucture.
I would expand access to affordable care by increasing competition, reducing unnecessary regulations and costs, expanding telehealth and rural healthcare options, and supporting incentives for doctors and providers to serve underserved communities. I would also promote price transparency so Texans can compare costs and make informed healthcare decisions.
Texas’ existing water and energy needs must be met before allowing additional water-intensive data center development. I support a moratorium on heavy water- and energy-use industries until we restore diminished resources through new water sources, aquifer and waterway recharge, and then develop the capacity and infrastructure to support these industries in the right locations.
I support strengthening safeguards for mail-in ballots, including stricter verification of voter identity, eligibility and residence verification, stronger chain-of-custody requirements, and improved transparency and accountability in ballot handling. Election procedures should protect legitimate voters while minimizing opportunities for fraud, error, or abuse.
Qualifications: 76,000+ consecutive votes; 1,500+ bills, more than any legislator in Texas history; B.S., M.A., PhD, UT-Austin; businesswoman & award-winning communication specialist; former teacher.
Texas should define education as a right, not a privilege, from early childhood through higher ed, making it accessible, accountable, affordable & excellent; fully/equitably fund public schools; expand flexibility to meet local needs & disparities; support libraries, technology, special ed, mental health, & broadband access; & pay all educators significantly better to recruit/retain excellence.
Legislators must ensure energy is accessible, reliable, affordable, sustainable & environmentally protective; highest users pay fair share of infrastructure costs & respect environment; balance economic development with concerns; modernize electric grid; create more reliable/resilient systems; expand battery storage; close regulatory gaps; incentivize wind & solar energy; & raise efficiency goals.
The state must ensure healthcare is a right, not a privilege, & is accessible, accountable, affordable, available & excellent for all Texans, including low-income families & rural residents. Options include telemedicine, mobile medical units, incentives for medical providers/facilities in rural & low-income areas & Medicaid expansion. Eliminating waiting lists for critical services is imperative.
I support a moratorium on data centers to allow legislators to adopt safeguards to protect communities, the environment, fauna & natural resources; preserve local control & property rights; preclude noise pollution & energy & water usage at expense of taxpayers & ratepayers; study permanent/temporary job creation, economic benefits, tax revenue; & require buffer zones & public feedback/support.
Voting by mail should be streamlined & secure so ballots that are readable & user-friendly can be cast easily, safely & with dignity. The process must ensure confidentiality, preclude fraud, enhance accessibility & meet the needs of those who otherwise cannot vote. In 2025 I passed two bills that help voters with vision impairments by enlarging the font size on early voting & mail-in ballots.
