What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?

Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation. What steps would you take as a state representative to ensure access to affordable healthcare, including mental health services, for residents who are currently uninsured or underserved in your district?

What measures would you support to ensure adequate state funding for public schools and accountability for taxpayer funds used in voucher or education savings account programs?

What are the two most pressing issues unique to your district, and what specific, measurable actions would you take to address them during your term?

I have served since 2019 and am proud to have been the voice for my working-class community. During my time, I have served on committees: Calendars, Transportation, and Human Services among others.
I will vote to expand Medicaid and have advocated to expand Medicaid since my election. I have always been open to incremental expansions to health care and have voted for the few bills brought to the floor under Republican leadership. For instance I voted for HB 12 that extended postpartum Medicaid coverage for eligible women from 2 months to a full 12 months.
I would return local control to ISDs, ending the takeovers! Taxpayers should be able to vote for their local ISDs and parents should participate in the governing of their school systems. Property taxes have ballooned because the State Government has abdicated it's responsibility to fund public education. Now Greg Abbott has a scheme to fund private and for profit schools with state dollars that will let our public schools die.
The cost of living in my working class neighborhoods is unbearable and crushing families that have fought hard to build a life for themselves.

The draconian enforcement of Trump's unconstitutional immigration crackdown is breaking families apart, worsening an already fragile economy, and killing Houstonians like Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. The Texas State government has been complicit with bill like SB4 and SB8.

I will fight for legislation to benefit working families, like a $15 minimum wage, expanding renewables to lower energy prices, and end big corporate tax breaks in exchange for low paying jobs. We must repeal SB4 and SB8 and stop demonizing the immigrant communities that are interictal to our culture, communities and economy.

I have spent most of my life serving the people. I was my mother's secretary when she was an attorney and had to learn quickly to navigate through the court system. I am currently a Harris County Court Coordinator working with Children in Foster Care. I have seen and have had to deal with the changes in legislation and policies that have affected our Court, our families and our youth. I rescue Animals who have been abused as well as children. I work with aging veterans. I also work with crime victims. At one point I worked for a bonding company. I know all too well the importance in having proper legislation and policies in place to help protect our communities.
I currently work with individuals who need mental health services. I am constantly being trained to identify people who have autism, bipolar, autistic and other mental health issues. We have mental health court for our veterans and people who have been sex trafficked. We work with nonprofits along with the city and County to ensure these individuals receive the proper healthcare they need. Healthcare is vital in ensuring healthy families, children and communities. I will make sure communities have the proper resources and education in identifying and assisting our most vulnerable as well as all individuals.
Frist of all we need oversight of the Local school Boards. I value our children in public schools, and their education is vital to the future of our communities. I will demand accountability and transparency as well as be part of any plans that affect our school, our communities and our children. I have attended and fought HISD school boards for decades. I do not intend to stop. we have amazing advocates in the community of whom I will work with to ensure that families are able to provide their input and be able to vote on any changes in schools. It takes working together for the best interest of the families. I will make sure that the community has input and is given plenty of notice to voice their concerns and opinions.
Affordability is crucial in my district. there are many families struggling to just provide the simple basic needs for their Children. I do a lot of community outreach and work with many organizations to ensure that families have the resources they need to help them get through difficult times. I will make sure that both state and local taxes are not increased. Crime is another concern in my District. We have seen an increase of youth and domestic violence. we have a revolving door in the Courts that are releasing violent offenders into the communities. I work with the parents of murdered children and there is no accountability for the crimes committed. Legislation needs to be improved to protect the public.
