What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?

Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation. What steps would you take as a state representative to ensure access to affordable healthcare, including mental health services, for residents who are currently uninsured or underserved in your district?

What measures would you support to ensure adequate state funding for public schools and accountability for taxpayer funds used in voucher or education savings account programs?

What are the two most pressing issues unique to your district, and what specific, measurable actions would you take to address them during your term?

I am currently the serving State Representative for District 142.
Expand Medicaid to employed persons but who are unable to afford medical insurance.
Texas needs a revised system for funding public education that pays teachers at a level where Texas attracts the best and brightest to the teaching profession. Also, Texas must assure we unlock the genius in every child who shows up at the front door of a public school. Vouchers are simply a drag on any system of funding public education.
First, home ownership must be increased and secondly, the chronic underachievement of our youngsters educationally particularly Black boys must be addressed.

First off, I want to say that I am not a career politician nor do I want to be one. I am a grass roots candidate who wants to be a strong voice for the people of District 142. I currently serve as Secretary on my HOA board and am also a CASA for Child Advocates. I retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service to our country. My entire life has been about serving others. Serving in the military taught me that leadership is about responsibility, accountability and service - not a title. I learned to lead people, solve problems, manage resources and make difficult decisions all while keeping the mission and the people I served first. After a career of serving our country, I am ready to serve my fellow neighbors of District 142.
I believe our health-care system should put Texans and Americans first. I would ensure legally eligible residents - especially children, seniors, veterans, and working families -can access affordable health and mental-health care. I will work to expand access through local providers, nonprofits, veterans' organizations and telehealth while reducing barriers and unnecessary costs. At the same time, I understand that we must protect taxpayers by enforcing eligibility requirements and making sure public resources are not being diverted from those who are legally entitled to them. I will work to eliminate waste and make sure that every taxpayer dollar is being used responsibly. Compassion and fiscal responsibility can go hand in hand.
