Before I was a U.S. Representative, I was a district court judge in Williamson County for 21 years. I was an attorney before sitting on the bench.
I believe individuals with pre-existing conditions should be covered by health insurance, and I also agree that health care costs are too high. I cosponsored the Protecting People from Surprise Medical Bills Act, and I've also supported legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs. I've also appropriated as chairman the highest amount for veteran health care in the history of the VA.
I support President Trump's trade policies to make our trade deals fairer. Other countries are taking advantage of American producers, which stifles the economy, jobs, and prices. I supported the Working Families Tax Cuts to safeguard $540 billion in American wages, because families should keep more of their hard-earned money.
We must have laws regarding our nation's sovereignty, and it's important to hold those who break the law accountable. I support additional resources for immigration services to do their jobs effectively and humanely. I support more immigration judges so that cases are handled swiftly, and we can reunite families quickly.
As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Congress must fulfill its funding obligations and maintain the power of the purse. When Congress does not pass appropriations bills, the government shuts down, which gives the executive branch significant power in the interim. We need to meet our Constitutional responsibilities.

Veteran, cybersecurity architect, and small business owner. Protect critical infrastructure, champion civil liberties & tech accountability, & lead w/ community-first, coalition-building values.
Accessible healthcare, by ensuring coverage through a federal fallback for Medicaid and supporting community clinics that bring care directly to neighborhoods.
Affordability starts with supply and accountability. I'll back zoning reform to build more housing, push tax credits to cap childcare costs, expand domestic energy production to lower utility bills, and support antitrust enforcement against price-fixing in groceries. Real relief means fixing root causes, not just naming problems.
Immigration should be fair, just, and humane. I'll push for a clear pathway to citizenship, end family separation and for-profit detention, protect Dreamers permanently, and defend naturalized citizens' rights from political attacks. Real border security and due process aren't opposites. I'll fight for both.
Congress must reclaim its constitutional authority, not defer it to the executive. I'll push to restore war powers and spending oversight, protect inspectors general from political removal, strengthen whistleblower protections, and defend an independent judiciary. Checks and balances only work if Congress has the backbone to use them, regardless of which party holds the White House.
