With 30 years as a prosecutor, more than 100 jury trials, and Board Certification in Criminal Law, I have successfully led major divisions in both Republican and Democratic Fort Bend District Attorney offices. I bring integrity, sound judgment, and a firm but compassionate approach that ensures every person is treated with dignity and respect.
I apply the law consistently and predictably, listening carefully to every party ensuring all voices are heard. There are two sides to every issue. My decades of experience as a prosecutor and now judge have reinforced the importance of impartiality, transparency, and treating everyone with fairness and respect. I study the issues thoroughly and come prepared, so decisions are based on the facts, the law, and a full understanding of the arguments presented. I recognize that these important decisions directly impact Fort Bend citizens.
I run an efficient docket and start on time, with multiple civil and criminal dockets each week. I offer hearings virtually, by submission, and in person, and respect the time of litigants. I use docket‑control orders to keep civil cases moving. I regularly work after hours to ensure I am prepared to handle the next day's dockets. My criminal trial experience helps me prioritize cases and recognize those that need additional time to prepare for trial and those that will be resolved by agreement.
Fort Bend’s rapid growth drives rising caseloads, requiring more courtroom space, use of associate judges, and modern case management technology. I use docket control orders to ensure that cases move along quickly but consistent with justice. I plan to work with county leadership and IT to modernize our case management system to improve efficiency, docket control, and public access. Recidivism is also a pressing issue; my work with Recovery Court supports rehabilitation and successful re-entry into society, strengthening public safety.

I bring broad experience, including nearly a decade serving Fort Bend County as an Assistant County Attorney and former Associate Judge, where I presided over civil and felony criminal matters, felony probation courts, and served as a magistrate judge. My experience also includes civil litigation, accounting, real estate, and financial services.
Fairness begins with recognizing that everyone who appears before you deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. My prior experience on the bench taught me that people come into court with different backgrounds, lived experiences, and familiarity with the legal system. I explain procedures and rulings clearly and make sure that litigants have a meaningful opportunity to be heard. I have found that people may not always like a ruling, but appreciate knowing the judge listened, explained the decision, and treated them fairly and impartially
Because the 502nd is a new court, my goal will be to build strong docket practices from day one to prevent a backlog from developing. That requires active case management and a judge willing to do the work. I would regularly review pending cases, identify matters needing attention, set realistic deadlines, use court time efficiently, address issues before they cause delay, and make effective use of court resources to ensure that cases move toward resolution.
Fort Bend County is growing rapidly. And with that growth comes increased caseloads and more complex matters. District Judges will need to balance this growth with ensuring each case receives the attention it deserves. My focus on preparation, appropriate use of technology, and strong docket management will help manage that balance. Additionally, public confidence in the judiciary is a general concern for courts across the country. Through consistent application of the law, clear expectations, and respect, I hope to help build public trust.
