I currently serve as a family district judge and have been on the bench for 11 years. I was previously appointed by both the Republican and Democrat parties on multiple occasions. Prior to taking the bench, I operated my own law practice handling complex family law matters. I teach as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center.
I actively serve in the community when I am not on the bench. I recently served as the president of the Exchange Club of Sugar Land, a non-profit that raises money for the prevention of child abuse and supports several local non-profits financially. I also serve and support organizations that protect survivors of intimate partner violence. I teach and speak regularly to educate the next generation of lawyers on how to properly handle these difficult cases. I am an active member of my church which also regularly serves the community.
I co-authored the self-represented litigation packet for the Fort Bend Family Courts. This packet gives forms and resources for individuals that are unable to afford an attorney, and helps them navigate the legal system efficiently. I also have a special docket every week for litigants that are representing themselves. This allows them to get in and out of the court system without having to wait for lawyers' cases to be heard. Additionally, each week I run a zoom docket allowing people with transportation issues to appear in my courtroom.
I generated an excel spreadsheet which sorts the cases in my court by how long they have been pending. I utilized this same strategy while I was the associate judge in the 387th court. It allows a judge to force the older cases to completion by scheduling final trials. At the same time, I dispose of approximately 200 cases per month through trials and agreements. These steps prevent backlogs.

I am qualified for this position because of my extensive legal experience and judicial training. With more than 20 years of family law experience, I understand the complexities of the cases that come before the court. I currently serve as an Associate Judge managing heavy dockets and remaining compassionate while making difficult decisions.
I would prioritize consistent communication and collaboration among the attorneys, mental health providers, and community organizations. I would seek regular opportunities to hear from these partners about barriers affecting children and families and identify practical ways to improve coordination while maintaining appropriate judicial boundaries. I would support connecting families with appropriate resources and reduce unnecessary delays in services. I would also follow up and evaluate whether available resources are meeting family needs.
My primary focus in every case is the facts, the evidence, and the law. Family court involves families facing real circumstances and decisions made can have lifelong consequences. I would promote fairness by ensuring every person appearing before my court is treated with dignity, respect, and impartiality. I would apply the law and provide each party an opportunity to be heard and remain mindful of the challenges faced by self-represented litigants. My goal would be for every person to leave the court knowing they were heard and treated fairly.
I will issue carefully considered temporary orders structured with the expectation that, absent a change, they can transition smoothly into final orders to reduces unnecessary relitigation. I will also manage cases by setting realistic and appropriate time estimates. I will carefully review proposed orders to ensure accuracy to prevent post-judgment disputes that can congest the docket.
