Thank you, be in business for over 40 years, and watching all the changes of the economy, labor force, and regulations can give someone the understanding that there will never be enough level minded people in Government. We are tasked with the ever-changing rules that are rolled out in Washington, along with in Raleigh. Everything keeps changing in our life, and as technology continues to evolve things we take for granted can come and go.
We need to be aware that many jobs are only hands on type, needing workers that can do them, and for these we need skilled workers that are ready, that are wanting to do these tasks. Such as HVAC, along with all the medical field. Also, in this county home building is a needed product.
I believe that as this county grows there may come a time when water and sewer will be a concern. We do have places in the county where the City operates the sewer system, yet there are lots in the county that owners aren't allowed to build because of the lack of a permit for a septic tank. These people are stuck in a way that has no relieve. There are houses being built at a good rate, but the waste processing plants are the same as they have been for years.
Also, the schools are a great place have conversation of need, as the county can help with funding for the county schools. My wife and myself do a lot to help fund projects for schools in the county, and have been for many, many years. I honestly don't think there's enough room to say.
To work with the local schools, and community colleges is always needed. I would look forward to meeting with these school leaders and ask the hard questions, apply funding where it is needed most, work to retain staff that are greatly valued, set-up programs that will improve the student's future. The county does some funding to the school system, along with the community college, yet the college seems to have a better path of funding. The fact that the board we have now can spend on ideas like they do and disregard things like education is not a good look. There are career paths that students can go down that could be a strong benefit to this county. Yet why isn't it underway ? We are in a great need for health care workers, and have been
To try to work with state leaders to relieve the criminal activity so to not drain resources that can be used elsewhere, that might make life easier for a family or individual. It seems that all across the state the same crimes seem to just repeat, and it is such a waste. If we have people continuing to not be law abiding citizens, somethings got to change.
Let's show this county in a good light, romance business to start up their future here. Let's employ the quality workers in this county, keep regulations at a minimum. Let's reconnect with the good folks at Cherry Point, and let them know we value them.
This is a rather sensitive question, as this department has mixed feelings in the community. It is a much-needed department that serves many different residents, in different ways. First, I would like to make sure that the ones being served do qualify to receive assistance from the county, if they apply. We should make sure that the case stated to the social workers are truly as stated. If fraud or misleading information is being submitted there should be consequences. Possibly if the accountability of programs is firmed up there may be extra funds that can serve the ones that are truly in need. It is a difficult time for some seniors that may need assistances in these days with things like a utility bill that has increased greatly.
Being a life long resident of Craven I have grown to appreciate our hometown. This is a nice place to live and raise a family. My only goal is to make life better for the residents in this county, period. I also have seen the abuse in some departments to some residents, and it is not acceptable. I'm not sure what happened to the statement made by many as to "term limits". We should as commissioners always be accessible and easy to talk too. We should want our schools to be successful, along with keeping and attracting new business. My personal feeling is the way the state has rolled out the Highway project through James City is unreal. We have lost many small businesses and homes. What happened to stopping Emanant Domain, that Government should just take your property. Along with this there has been damage to businesses that are along the path of construction. With this No One is talking about the issue between the Commissioners and the Hospital. Will we continue to have a hospital ?
