Biography I’m Jennifer Butler, a working mom, biomedical consultant, and longtime school volunteer running for Fork Union District School Board seat. I’ve spent the last five years rolling up my sleeves as a PTO Board member and parent advocate—from elementary to high school—because I believe every student deserves a school that sees them, supports them, and sets them up to thrive. By day, I support the National Institutes of Health in my consulting role. By night (and weekends), I’m cheering on my two Fluco boys and helping build stronger schools through hands-on engagement and community collaboration. I’m not here for politics—I’m here because of my love for the schools, teachers, and students.
As a candidate for School Board, I’m focused on what drives real student success: strong academic support, great teachers, safe environments, and clear paths to the future. I’ll advocate for expanded learning tools and opportunites, invest in teacher retention and development, promote mental health and school safety, and strengthen career and college readiness programs—so every Fluco student can thrive, from kindergarten to graduation and beyond.
To recruit and retain great teachers in today’s competitive market, we need to lead with respect, resources, and real support. I’ll advocate for effective hiring strategies, competitive pay, and professional development that helps educators grow and stay. I’ll also push for a school culture that values teacher voice—because when we support teachers, students thrive.
The School Board must lead with intention to ensure equity and access for all students. That means setting clear goals, listening to diverse voices, and allocating resources based on student needs. I’ll advocate for inclusive curriculum, culturally responsive teaching, and policies that protect and empower every learner.
