Wooster Township Trustees are responsible for governing the day-to-day operations of the township, including managing its budget, planning and overseeing the township s fire department, maintaining township roads, and handling other legal duties assigned by Ohio law. They make these decisions as a collective board, attending public meetings where they discuss and vote on various matters affecting the township and its residents.Key Responsibilities:Township Planning & Operations: Trustees are responsible for the overall planning and operation of the township and its services.Budget Management: They manage the township s budget, requiring them to make responsible fiscal decisions to provide quality services within financial guidelines.Road Maintenance: A significant responsibility is the maintenance of township roads and bridges.Fire Department: Trustees oversee the township s fire department.Public Parks: They have the authority to establish and manage public parks within the township.Ditches and Drains: Trustees are responsible for managing township ditches, drains, and surface water.Line Fences: They handle issues related to line fences between adjacent properties.Zoning and Regulations: Trustees can introduce levies and regulate township zoning boards.How They Operate:Public Meetings: The trustees meet regularly, and these meetings are open to the public.Fiduciary Responsibility: They have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of the public and manage township affairs responsibly.Board Decisions: Decisions are made by the board of trustees as a whole, not as individuals.Trustees serve a three-member board, make decisions collectively, act as the legislative body of the township, and are accountable to the residents for the smooth operation of the community.
