I have been the Minnetonka City Councilmember at Large in Seat A since 2018. Prior to that I was the Vice Chair of the Minnetonka Planning Commission. I have learned and shared best practices through my involvement on a national environmental committee, a state services delivery committee, a Metro Agencies committee and as chair of the Southwest Suburban Cable Commission. My adult life has been devoted to public service and I love Minnetonka. I am a former US Senate staffer. I am the Administrative Manager for the City of Saint Paul Office of Financial Services. With my knowledge of Minnetonka’s challenges and opportunities I have the experience and proven leadership to continue Minnetonka's legacy of fiscal stewardship and good governance.
As the wife of a retired wildland firefighter and emergency manager, stewardship of our natural resources and public safety are top priorities for me. Public Safety is the first responsibility of government. Our investments in firefighters for improved response times, embedded social workers, and police resources make our community safer. Strong financial stewardship with a Aaa bond rating and needs based budgeting enables our other priorities like housing, and infrastructure maintenance.
I have knocked on hundreds of doors in every ward (as I always do) to hear about neighborhood concerns and priorities and move them forward. I plan to have regular constituent coffees again this year after a year hiatus due to family obligations. I answer all emails, and phone calls. I conscientiously read my Council materials, visit projects, meet with community groups, attend community events and open houses and work hard to make informed decisions that best serve the community.
Thoroughly reading the Council materials, and asking questions to ensure the accuracy of agenda items aids in accountability. Adhering to open meeting laws, and asking for clarification for constituents in meetings helps with transparency. Notifying neighborhoods of projects for awareness and public feedback is crucial. Informing the public through social media, the Minnetonka Memo, events, and our great website with dashboards for housing and police activity are tools we use for transparency.
