Xenia Township Trustee

The Township Trustee is one of three members of the Board of Trustees, which is the governing body of the township. The township is responsible for maintaining roads, providing police protection, and regulating land use (planning and zoning) in the unincorporated areas of the township. Townships may also provide services such as fire and emergency medical services, parks and recreation, and cemetery maintenance for residents of both incorporated and unincorporated areas of the township.

Describe the skills and experience you will bring to the township board of trustees.
New housing being built on land annexed by the city. Residents once surrounded by rural space now find themselves next to a subdivision. New traffic patterns frustrate drivers and create safety concerns. Tax revenue from annexed lands no longer benefit the township. These projects have been in the works for decades and while the Township has few options to prevent them, I would like to see better communication and more cooperation with the city to lesson the impact of these developments.
Township residents have already endured one of the largest property tax increases in recent memory, and families have little appetite for higher taxes, especially with their own costs rising. Fiscal discipline must be the starting point for every decision. This means examining each line item to find savings and eliminate waste, prioritizing essentials like police, fire, and roads before spending elsewhere, and working with neighboring governments to gain savings through greater purchasing power.
For over 20 years I've worked with some of America's largest and most successful companies, solving complex IT challenges through thinking critically and providing practical solutions. I have a BS in Management Information Systems from Wright State, which has given me a strong foundation in leadership and systems management. I've also served as a board member for my church here in Xenia for over three years where I've learned how to listen, build consensus, and make tough decisions.
