I have worked in higher education for my entire career as a reference archivist and lecturer at The University of Akron. I have attended school board meetings regularly since 2019 when my oldest child started school.
Volunteer & Community Service
I served 11 years as President of the Board for the Kent Haymaker Farmers Market. I currently serve as Secretary of the Waterloo Vikings Parent Teacher Organization.
Lack of transparent communication has affected morale in our district - the morale of our teachers and staff and our parents and community members. 2024-2025 was a tough year with a difficult superintendent who has since left and now we have an opportunity to build back trusting relationships and increase honest communication at all levels. Parents want to be more engaged and informed, but are often unsure of how to get involved. As a community member, I held a public action meeting and our community room was full of people and we had an engaging conversation about our school. This shows that communicating openly and honestly is the best way to address challenges.
I have two children in the district, I am an officer in our PTO, and I have spent my career working in higher education. I have attended board meetings regularly since my oldest child started school in 2019. I am not afraid to ask questions and hold people accountable. I am engaged and care deeply about our school and its future. I want to communicate with people. I am ready to listen and represent my community and use my vote as a school board member to always put our students first
The board is fiscally responsible for the school while also working to create the best environment for student and staff success. It’s important the board work as a team, with shared principles and goals. If we do that, and focus on honest, transparent communication, we can more easily navigate controversy together.
