Experience Current Thompson Township Trustee
A Thompson Trustee plays a vital role in maintaining the township's infrastructure, managing budgets, and ensuring essential services like road maintenance and emergency response are delivered effectively. As a Thompson Township Trustee for the past two years, I’ve worked hard to keep our roads safe, support local services, and make smart decisions with taxpayer money. I care deeply about our township and have built strong relationships with residents, always listening and working to solve problems. With two years of experience, I’m ready to keep serving with dedication, honesty, and a focus on what matters most to our community.
Maintaining and improving our roads is the biggest fiscal challenge facing Thompson Township. With limited revenue and rising costs for materials, equipment, and labor, it’s difficult to keep up with necessary repairs and upgrades. Seasonal damage from snow, ice, and heavy rains adds to the strain, requiring frequent maintenance that stretches our budget thin. As our roads age, they need more than patching—they require long-term investment and planning. Balancing these needs while being responsible with taxpayer dollars is one of the most important and complex tasks we face.
Another challenge facing Thompson is addressing severe zoning violations. I take a firm but fair approach that protects the community while respecting individual property rights. My focus is on the most serious cases—those that pose safety risks or lower property values—and work directly with property owners to encourage voluntary compliance. Violations like neglected properties can threaten public safety and disrupt the character of our township. Tackling these issues takes time, legal coordination, and funding, especially when violations are long-standing or face resistance. It’s a delicate balance, but one that’s essential to keeping Thompson safe, attractive, and in line with the rules that protect everyone.
To keep residents informed and involved, I make open communication a top priority. We post regular updates on the township website and share important news through Tidbits, our Thompson newsletter, so everyone stays in the loop. Most importantly, I’m always available, residents can call me directly with questions or concerns. I’m here to listen, to help, and to make sure your voice is part of every decision we make for Thompson Township.
