Charlottesville voters in 2025 will elect two members to the five‑member City Council, the city’s chief legislative body responsible for setting policy, adopting the budget, levying taxes, enacting ordinances, and overseeing major functions like planning, public safety, utilities, and transportation, and appointing the City Manager and other key officials. Voting matters because Council decisions directly shape the quality of life in Charlottesville, from affordable housing and human services to infrastructure and equity.
