Do you support legislation allowing Virginia to adopt the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (which would ensure that every Virginia vote for President is equal to those votes from every other state and DC, while also guaranteeing that the candidate who receives the most votes nationwide wins the Presidency)?

If elected, what will be your top priorities for Virginia?

Do you support the proposed Virginia Right to Reproductive Freedom constitutional amendment? Why or why not?

I am deeply concerned about the impact of HR1 on Virginia. We must do all we can to protect SNAP benefits and access to healthcare for those who will lose access to Medicaid. I am grateful for the work of the House Emergency Committee on the Impacts of Federal Workforce and Funding Reductions and I am reviewing their report with their final recommendations. I believe Virginia is leaving significant money on the table with our outdated and inequitable tax code, and I am hopeful that we may be able to enact tax reform like a millionaire’s tax to backfill the gaps left by HR1.
Yes, I support allowing Virginia to adopt the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. The candidate who has won the most votes should win the Presidency, and candidates should campaign everywhere, not just in swing states.
My top priorities include expanding access to quality, affordable early childhood education starting at birth; making sure our economy works for all including access to paid family and medical leave; and fighting climate change and its impacts.
Yes, I strongly support the Virginia Right to Reproductive Freedom constitutional amendment. Virginia is currently the only state in the South without an abortion ban, and we need to enshrine the right to the full spectrum of reproductive health care in our Constitution. Personal health care decisions are best made by individuals, their families, and their doctors and I am committed to protecting this in our Commonwealth.
I have repeatedly introduced legislation and budget amendments to provide localities additional authority, tools, and funding to preserve and expand affordable housing and I will continue to do so. I have also introduced legislation to help Alexandrians remain housed and prevent evictions by requiring large landlords to offer payment plans before filing for eviction when the amount due is less than one month of rent and co-patroned other legislation to increase the “pay or quit” period from 5 days to 14, before large landlords could file for eviction.
