Mathews is facing an aging and declining population, taxes were raised and our school system is no longer the great draw that it once was. There is no single solution to these problems, I will bring a conservative, common sense, respectful, business approach and find solutions that will not further burden the taxpayers. Respect and communication between the board and the adminstration will need to be strengthened to allow a culture of proficient and effective governance to flurish. Programs like Certified Local Government and bringing back the county fair may be ways to bring in revenue. It's past time to start the conversation.
I spent twenty years coaching the youth in our county. During that time of coaching the players and interacting with thier families I learned and fell in love with the unique character of Mathews. Owning a small business, coaching and working on boards I learned the skills needed to communicate my stances to people who were many times opposed. My faith and experience have lead me to understanding the importance of speaking with respect and kindness. I will bring a conservative, professional, efficient, common sense leadership if I am elected.
In my opinion there was no better place to raise our boys than Mathews county. Our community is very tight knit, caring, helpful, and generous. Mathews is beautiful with endless shorelines and picturesque rural settings.
