A renewal of 1.3 mills and an increase of 0.7 mill for each $1 of taxable value to constitute a tax for the benefit of Butler County for the purpose of providing and maintaining senior citizens services, that the county auditor estimates will collect $20,209,690 annually, at a rate not exceeding 2 mills for each $1 of taxable value, which amounts to $50 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s appraised value, for a period of 5 years, commencing in 2025, first due in calendar year 2026.Explanation: If a majority votes for the levy then an additional 0.7 mills for each $1 of taxable value will be placed on Butler County properties and the current 1.3 mills will be renewed.  The combined amount will be 2 mills for each $1 of taxable value, which equals $50 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s appraised value.  The levy will apply for 5 years starting in 2025, with tax collection beginning in 2026.Additional Relevant Information: The Butler County Elderly Services provides a range of services for elderly residents of Butler County to help elderly residents remain independent in their homes for as long as possible. The Elderly Services Program levy was renewed in 2010, 2015 and 2020. The current levy generates $10,000,000 annually. BCES requests an increase as a result of the aging population and rising costs. For the past five years, levy funds have been supplemented by pandemic funds but these funds have ended.
