I was first elected to Brighton City Council in 2021. I have been a board member of the Downtown Development Authority since 2019 and have served on the Brighton Veterans Memorial Committee since 2023. I am a graduate of Hillsdale College earning a degree in Financial Management and Politics. My wife and I were born and raised in Brighton and are Brighton High School alumni class of 2012. We are the proud parents of a three-year-old daughter and year and a half old twin boys. Outside of city council, I work as a marketing and underwriting representative in the insurance industry.
Since being elected 4 years ago, it has been my motivation to see Brighton continue to thrive while maintaining our small town character. As a lifelong resident, I know Brighton has always been a great place live, work, visit, and raise a family. My goal is to build upon this, while also maintaining our unique identity, character, and history. The city, greater Brighton area, and county as a whole continues to see significant growth. While this can be beneficial from a revenue standpoint, it also brings challenges. Brighton and the community at large will likely continue to grow and we will need to manage this growth as best we can.
The city has gone to great lengths over the past few years to maintain and improve outreach and communication with residents. This includes releasing the My Brighton MI app which contains information on upcoming public meetings and provides regular notifications regarding construction, civic events, trash/recycling pickup etc. In addition, we live stream all City Council meetings on YouTube to give the public the opportunity to stay engaged and informed when they are unable to attend in person. Lastly, the city provides updates on social media and our city website with open vacancies on boards and commissions to encourage residents to apply.
Maintaining streets, sidewalks, and water/sewer infrastructure. The city completed street reconstruction or paving projects in the Northwest neighborhoods, Main Street Streetscape, and Grand River and we are in the process of repaving Robertson Drive, Sisu Knoll, and portions of Oak Ridge and Glenwyth. Also, the city recently completed a sidewalk gap project on Flint Road, Williamsen Drive, and Nelson St partially funded by a $300k+ state TAP grant. Lastly, we have an aging wastewater treatment plant that will need significant investment. We will need to continue to work with state/local partners to find any funding/grants opportunities.

I have proudly served on Brighton City Council for 9.5 years, bringing experience, dedication, and a collaborative spirit to every decision. In addition to Council, I have served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Brighton Arts & Cultural Commission, the Safety Board, the Environmental Committee, and co-chaired Brighton’s 150th Celebration. Professionally, I am Chief of Staff to the President of Cornerstone Schools. I am committed to transparency, collaboration, and building a thriving Brighton for all residents.
I am motivated to serve on City Council because I believe deeply in Brighton’s future and in the power of collaborative leadership. After more than nine years on Council, I have seen firsthand how thoughtful decisions can strengthen our community and enhance the quality of life for residents.
I remain focused on preserving our quality of life and delivering excellent city services. I plan to continue working diligently with my fellow Council members and City staff to create a strategy that supports thoughtful growth and celebrates Brighton’s culture—without jeopardizing the small-town feel and sense of community we all love.
My goal is
I believe communication must be intentional and inclusive so every resident feels informed and represented. I encourage residents to reach out directly to City Council members and City Staff for accurate answers instead of relying on social media, where information can be incomplete or inaccurate . Attending Call to the Public is a great way to have your voice heard and engage in decisions that shape Brighton. I also promote using the City’s website and the MI Brighton MI app for official notices, agendas, and alerts. Together, these efforts create transparency and keep our community connected and engaged.
Brighton’s most pressing challenges are managing rapid growth, addressing parking shortages, and maintaining quality city services. Growth brings opportunity but must be balanced to preserve our small-town character. I will continue working closely with City Council, staff, and statewide experts to plan smart development, expand parking solutions, and protect infrastructure. Collaboration with planners and transportation experts will help us stay ahead of growth pressures while keeping Brighton vibrant, accessible, and an outstanding place to live and do business.

I love the City of Brighton and our community. I am seeking re-election to Brighton City Council to continue serving the community I call home. I am committed to preserving Brighton’s small-town charm while ensuring the city meets the evolving needs of residents and businesses alike. I believe in giving back to the community I live in. I engage in conversations with our residents as well as our businesses on a daily basis to ensure we are meeting the needs for all residents and business owners.
I will continue to participate in the open public forums that the city conducts (such as Millage review) to hear our residents' concerns and answer questions. I will continue to point our residents and business owners to the City of Brighton Facebook page as well as the city website and the My Brighton MI app. I regularly engage with members of the community, listen to their comments and provide my personal information for follow up accordingly (found on the City of Brighton web page). I also attend the city festivals and Farmers Market and Chamber events to talk with the residents and business owners to address their needs and ideas.
Always at top of the list is continued Public Safety. I am in contact with our police department, Police Chief and Fire Chief on a regular basis. I will continue with the sidewalk gap program and fixing our roads. I will keep the city financials balanced by working with our city manager and city financial director. I am also working on our parking issue with the local businesses, residents and other city council members, as well as our city staff on grants and partnerships. I continuously communicate with other municipalities in our surrounding area and on occasion attend their meetings to find synergies and opportunities for solutions.

As a Brighton City Council Member, I offer a perspective that represents the spirit of innovation that continues to make Brighton a successful community. The principles of good governance, wise investments, due diligence, respect, continuous improvement, & wise fiscal policy, combined with the goal of continuing to make Brighton a “place” of commerce & unique character are the foundations of my campaign. It is my desire to support our thriving city by bringing out the best in Brighton & helping create an atmosphere that is appealing for our citizens & businesses.
In my 12 years on Council, I have seen opportunities & challenges, growth & changes in Brighton. I believe in balanced budgeting & growth along with a dedicated City Council & staff that want the best for Brighton. Brighton should be a place for all its residents to live & enjoy. I have worked hard to educate myself formally & informally as a member of our community & do my very best to make Brighton a great place to live, work & play.
I have four daughters & want Brighton to be a place where they want to live & raise their families & be a vibrant community years from now. I want to make sure that Brighton continues to value its assets.
It is important to continuously improve community outreach & engagement. Our City of Brighton does quite a bit of engagement & outreach through all of the following areas: local press, social media outlets like Facebook, e-newsletters, the City of Brighton app (My Brighton MI), Council meetings, Open houses & overall citizen engagement on the street level where I, my fellow City Council Members, & staff (we love to talk to our residents & visitors) all these types of engagement have proven to help us to get feedback both positive & negative. Our City Council welcomes citizens & visitors to City meetings & makes them feel welcome & heard.
As a member of the Brighton City Council, together we have worked extensively with staff to bring in millions of dollars in grant dollars to the city, this makes our taxpayer dollars go much further. In my seat of this City Council, I have actively encouraged successful collaboration with Local, State, & federal partners as well as private foundations for grant dollars to assist with City projects.
The biggest challenge for the City of Brighton is the same as many other communities, balancing the community needs, wants, & budget. Our Council has made it a priority to thoughtfully deliberate the differences between community needs & wants.
